Longford Leader journalist, Conor Neville, is through to the final of ‘So You Think You’re Funny’. The 24-year-old comic received unanimous approval from the judges and in doing so earned his right to compete for the top prize on Thursday, August 23, in the Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh.

“I was on last but it went really well. I had a very smart audience,” said Conor, originally from Ferefad.

The NUI Maynooth graduate added: “I was even interviewed by BBC2 for their ‘The Culture Shock’ show. It’ll be on next Wednesday night (August 22).”

Speaking about the opportunity to take part in the final, Conor said: “It’s a great achievement but I have to say that I don’t walk around in complete euphoria forever. I’ll probably get very nervous as the date approaches.”

With £2,000 (STG) up for grabs, alongside a spot at the Montreal Comedy Festival, Conor faces tough competition in the Gilded Balloon. ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ forms part of the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has kick-started the careers of dozens of famous comics including Dylan Moran, Peter Kay, and Tommy Tiernan.
