Queues of supporters gathered for the Semi Final of the Longford Youth Factor last Saturday night and the talent showcased did not disappoint.

Ten acts sang their hearts out to earn a coveted place in the Final. The theme for this week’s show was songs from the charts.

The show kicked off with Aoife Kane performing the hit song ‘Forget You’ by Cee Lo Green. Aoife stunned the judges, who were Liz Leavy, Evelyn Kelly, Benny O’Brien and Maureen Dunne, with her infectious stage presence and fantastic vocal. They claimed Aoife had set the standard for the night.

Next up was Aimiee McCoppin singing Lady Gaga’s ‘The Edge of Glory’. Judges agreed that Aimee had done a fantastic job with the song. Judge Evelyn Kelly said that although the song lacked performance-wise, Aimiee’s amazing vocal cannot be denied.

Heather and Luke performed ‘Domino’ by Jesse J. Judges admitted this was not their favourite performance from the duo and more interaction with each other was needed. Judge Benny O’Brien commented that the chorus of the song was gorgeous.

Helen McDermott was next singing David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ and ‘Judas’ by Lady Gaga. The judges felt it was a brilliant delivery of the two songs mixed together but perhaps her voice was stretched a little. Judge Liz Leavy announced that she’d loved Helen’s style from her first audition.

*As a mark of respect, the Longford Youth Factor Final scheduled for this Saturday (Feb 11) has been postponed until Saturday week, February 18.
