They say that love may blossom in the unlikeliest of places and at the most unexpected of times. So is true of the romance that has flourished between Orla Dunne and her fiancé, James Waters. On a summer’s night one year ago Orla’s sister Marie coaxed Orla into attending the Marquee in Drumlish. It was a night she was never to forget.

“It was the Saturday night and Ryan Sheridan was playing,” said Orla speaking to the Leader. “Marie brought James over to me and introduced us – it started from there really. We arranged to meet on the Sunday night at the Saw Doctors. It was another great night.”

It is perhaps fitting that when James decided to propose to his Clooncoose (Ballinalee Road) lady, he did so at yet another festival. This time the Colmcille Festival on July 7 last.

“We’re getting married in September 2013. Our reception will be in the Landmark Hotel, after the ceremony at Drumlish church,” said Orla, who now lives in Drumlish.

James, a native of Gortletteragh lives and works from home in Leitrim, while Orla commutes from Drumlish to her work at RNH Solutions in Dublin.

There is almost a sense that this relationship was ‘meant to be’. Uncannily, beside James’ family home in Gortletteragh there is a lake called ‘Clooncoose’.

“When you know, you know. James is very laid back and easy going. We really enjoy spending time together,” said Orla, a daughter of Mick and Maura. James is a son of Willie and Carmel.
