Continuing it’s commitment to improve the services it offers to the local community, Specsavers Longford officially launched a state of the art Hearing Centre in the Ballymahon Street store.

To celebrate, Specsavers Longford hosted a family fun day for all the community to enjoy, on Saturday, October 22.

Guests at the opening were treated to light refreshments as they perused the store and browsed the fantastic products and hearing services on offer.  To add colour and excitement to the occasion, the store was decorated with a balloon arch and there was two men on stilts on the day to entertain all those in attendance. There was also a special appearance from the giant Specsavers ear mascot.

The team is delighted to provide hearing as well as optical services to the people of Longford, with a dedicated hearcare room and sound proofed hearing booth in store. Speaking at the official launch, highly trained audiologist and hearing director at Specsavers Longford, Lynn Morris said: "In keeping with the tradition of excellent service together with value for money, which has been part of the ethos of the store, we have now expanded into the realm of Hearcare."

No longer just experts in eye health, Lynn continues that Specsavers Longford Hearing Centre ‘will be providing a comprehensive test and fit service with qualified and caring professional service and follow up.’ The store will provide the people of Longford and its surrounding areas with a comprehensive audiological service which includes an initial free assessment, free aftercare, full back up service together with a 90 day ‘no quibble’ return guarantee. The Longford hearing centre has an Audiologist in store Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with a hearcare assistant in store six days a week. The Longford store is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 – 18:00, with late night opening every Thursday.

Specsavers hearing centres provide free, three-minute hearing screenings, with no need to book a full appointment and no obligation to buy. As store director Keith McCallion comments, "We’re very pleased to be offering the people of Longford and surrounding areas the opportunity to avail of a free hearing test and to have any questions they may have answered. " The screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from having a full hearing test, which takes about one hour.

The Longford hearing centre boasts hi-tech facilities and all Specsavers digital hearing aids are sold as part of a complete hearing package. From the starting price of €750 this includes:

Two hearing aids at one low price

Four years’ worth of batteries

Four year guarantee (representing a two year extension to the manufacturer’s guarantee)

Telecoil / auto-telephone

Directional microphones
