Mayor’s tribute to county’s former eldest citizen

The Mayor of Roscommon Cllr Tom Crosby has paid tribute to one of the eldest citizens in County Roscommon, Margaret Feeney Ashbrook Scramogue, a native of his own local parish Tarmonbarry/Scramogue, who passed away on Friday last in her 106th year.

Cllr Crosby, who knew Margaret all his life, said, “She was an exceptional woman in every way, held in very high regard throughout the parish and the wider community. She was without doubt an inspiration to many, many generations.”

Cllr Crosby would like to extend his sympathy to her son Pearse, her daughter Bridie and to all her family and extended family.
