Longford Sports Centre gets behind fundraising drive

Longford leisure complex, has joined with Cappagh Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of Cappagh National Orthopedic Hospital, on its latest national fundraising initiative.

Dubbed ‘Trifitness’, the project aims to raise funds to develop a high quality sports rehabilitation gym that will enable Cappagh Hospital to support patients, from all sporting levels, disciplines and ages as they bid to get back to full health and active lifestyles.

Speaking at its launch this week, John Dennehy, Executive Director, Cappagh Hospital Foundation (CHF), gave the thumbs up to news of Longford Leisure Complex’s involvement.

“With Cappagh’s strong sporting therapy and reputation, we felt that this type of initiative was the perfect vehicle to help raise funds and awareness for the hospital and the work they undertake. We are delighted that Longford leisure complex has joined with CHF to help fundraise for this worthy cause,” he said.

Set over ten weeks, the initiative runs for 10 weeks, from September to December, in conjunction with hundreds of sports associations, gyms and fitness centres across Ireland.

Based largely on being a team event, groups of three will compete in a series of interactive distance time trials of 10 minutes each on treadmill, rowing and cycling apparatus in order to qualify for the semi-final and finals, scheduled to be held on Saturday December 8, 2012, in DCU Sport.
