A seasoned Longford marathon runner is this week calling on members of the public to snap up as many Irish Austism Action Flags as possible before taking on a gruelling 130 mile run for the association in two weeks time.

Brendan Doyle is one of three long distance specialists scheduled to take on the ‘Great N4 Autism Run’ from Sligo to Dublin on October 11-12.

In an attemp to generate awareness, Brendan is this week asking locals to purchase a flag and display them outside their house or business premises.

The experienced campaigner is currently putting the finishing touches to his preparations in an event whihc will see the popular athlete team up with Offaly’s Niall Murphy and Mullingar man, Michael Devaney.

The flags are blue in colour, the chosen undertone associated with autism with the Irish Autism Action logo also attached. They cost €5 with all funds going to the charity. The flags can be purchased at an outlet on the route and for details visit www.n4autismrun.com or contact the national office 044-9331609. A table quiz is also set for the Longford Arms Hotel on October 4 as part of the fundraising drive.

All monies from the event and supported by Abbott Ireland will go to support the new Autism Centre of Excellence that the charity has recently established in Westmeath.
