Tidy Towns: We increased our marks by 3 over last year thanks to the on-going efforts of the Tidy Towns Group. The flowers were admired by the adjudicator and the absence of weeds and litter remarked on. Congratulations to Abbeyshrule on their great achievement and also to our neighbours in Tarmon for their increased marks.

Digital TV: Help needed with Digital TV Switchover? Need help setting up your new Saorview Set Top Box? A local Clondra Pensioner has kindly offered to install Set Top Boxes FREE of charge, for anyone in the local area who might need assistance. If you would like help, contact Valerie Maguire, Co. Longford’s Digital Outreach Champion on 087 2615583 and she will put you in touch with each other.

Canal Walk: This walk is due to take place on Sunday 14th October at 2.30 pm. Lines will be on sale in the next week or so and it is hoped for contribuitions from the community to build up our Tidy Towns fund. This walk is a great opportunity for families and neighbours to get out to take the air and enjoy our beatuiful countryside.

Coffee Morning: Coffee morning in aid of Longford Hospice at D & E McHugh, Strokestown Road from 10am to 12pm on this Thursday 20th September. Please support a very worthy cause. All are welcome.

Junior Cert Results: Congratulations to all Junior Cert Students in the parish on their results and continued success in their future studies.

Clondra goes Bluegrass: Broad Oak Blue Grass Band play in the Richmond Inn on this Saturday night 22nd September. All the way from London this group played the Longford Banjo Festival in previous years.

On Holidays: A warm welcome to Tanya Cooney, Levischn and her son Luke formerly of Knappogue who are visiting family and friends in the Clondra area this week, all the way from Perth, Australia also a big welcome to first time visitors to Ireland Aidan, Coady and Taylor we hope they have a very pleasant visit.

Deaths: The death of Una Hanley (nee Tyrrell) of Fisherstown, Clondra occurred at Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, Rooskey during the week. Wife of the late John. Deepest sympathy is extended to her nieces, nephew’s relatives neighbours and friends. May she R.I.P. The death also occurred at the weekend of Ann (Molly) O’Rourke, Ballyclare, Killashee and formerly Aughavas, Co. Leitrim. Deceased was in her 94th year. Deepest sympathy is extended to her sons Bertie, Gerry, Frank, daughters Bernadette Sheahan, Breege Groarke, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters in law and sons in law, sisters, nephews, nieces relatives and friends. May she R.I.P
