ART CLASSES: Art classes will be starting in Currycahill Hall on 20th Sept from 8-10pm. Anybody interested contact 087 2881331.

SCHOOL: The local national school will reopen on September 6th after summer break.

BABY BOY: Congrats to Declan and Helen McGrath Cois na hAbhainn on the birth of their second child a baby boy.

FLEADH: Best of luck to all the local participants in the all Ireland Fleadh which starts this week. See separate article for names (page 31).

THE MANNING CUP: Well done to Dessie Reynolds Aughnashanagh who was in the Longford GAA U16 county team that won the Fr Manning Cup last week after a gap of 11 years.

COACHING: Children from the ages of 6-12 are invited to Maguire Park on Friday evening at 7pm for coaching. There is also a trip away in three weeks time. Only children attending every week will be deemed eligible to go.

OLD CLOTHES: The collection date for old clothes at the Thomas Ashe Hall is Friday 12 October. All funds go towards our defib fund. One defib has been erected in the porch of the Garda station.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY: Deepest sympathy to Tom O’Leary and family Kilshrewley on the death in recent weeks of two of his brothers Willie and Michael O’Leary. Rip.

FUNDRAISER: Tickets are on sale locally for a fundraiser in aid of Motor Neurone Disease research which takes place on Friday Aug 31st in Rawles lounge. There is a large range of artists lined up to play on the night. Tickets are 5 euro each. Local organisers are Neil Rawle and Seamus Murtagh.
