Edgeworthstown Tidy Towns recently unveiled its new logo to loud applause. The logo, which will feature on new clothing, signs and literature, was designed by Cathal McGerr of St Mary’s National School (NS) and was the winning entry in a competition aimed at fifth and sixth pupils in the town.

“We ran this competition to make children aware of their environment and to keep their area tidy. We had a great response and it was great to see the awareness within the pupils. Unfortunately there could only be a few winners, but we thank everyone from St. John’s NS and St Mary’s NS for taking part,” said Cllr Tom Victory of Edgeworthstown Tidy Towns.

He continued: “The logo is a crest that will be used this year and in future years. It represented all that is involved with people coming together to keep an area tidy. It also represents respect for the environment.”

Sponsored by Longford Credit Union, the winning entry can be seen on display in Quinn’s Supply Stores.
