Granard pharmacist Ronan Sheridan has been announced as a finalist in the Helix Health Pharmacist Award 2012. Mr Sheridan is the only Longford/Westmeath nominee among the total of 21 pharmacists on this year’s list, and one of only three finalists in the young pharmacist category.

Mr Sheridan, a pharmacist manager at Market Point Pharmacy Mullingar, is the youngest son of Pat and Mary Sheridan, Main Street, Granard. He qualified with a Masters in Pharmacy with Distinction from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 2009.

Mr Sheridan said, “I am delighted to have been nominated for this award. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young pharmacists like myself at the start of our career, to promote the important work pharmacists do in the community.

“The public are becoming more aware of the valuable advice that their local pharmacist can provide and I am excited to be associated with this award.”

The announcement follows an open call to members of the public and the pharmacy community to nominate pharmacists nationwide who epitomise professional excellence. Winners of the Helix Health Pharmacist Awards will be announced at a special awards ceremony on Saturday November 10 in Dublin, bringing together pharmacists from all areas of the profession. All money raised from this year’s Helix Health Pharmacist Awards will go towards the Pharmacy Benevolent Fund which supports those who have been associated with pharmacy and are now in need of assistance.
