President Michael D. Higgins was joined by Frances Fitzgerald TD Minister for Children and Youth Affairs at the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Family Support Agency and to mark its transition to the new Child and Family Support Agency recently in Croke Park.

The Minister commended the work of the Family Support Agency over the past 10 years including supporting some 600 organisations providing counselling services.

Out of the large number of projects supported by the Agency six project representatives from around the country were chosen to meet the President to be commended for their work. This included Rosalind O’Leary, Chairperson of the Longford Acorn Project Ltd.

Longford Acorn Project Ltd has been up and running for the past eight years providing services for the most vulnerable people of Longford.
